Ever since the invention of the video camera, people have been using it to promote their products and services. It is a powerful tool that can tell your story engagingly that grabs your audience’s attention. There’s a lot of ways to use video marketing, including YouTube, Facebook Live Video, Tiktok videos, Snapchat stories, and more.
Do you have a bit of idea about how many hours of video are uploaded to YouTube each minute? How about the number of videos watched on Facebook every hour? video dominates the internet, and it’s easy to see why. It engages audiences better than static text or images.
Video marketing can be a compelling tool for businesses, but it is important to understand the basics before diving in.
1. What’s video marketing, and why should you care?
Video marketing is the use of video to promote and market your business. It can be as effortless as sharing a few videos on social media, or it could involve creating full-length webinars for customers. The idea behind it comes from how easy it is to capture people’s attention with video versus other mediums like writing text or even audio files. People are naturally drawn towards visual stimuli, so videos are an effective tool in promoting yourself and your products/services!
Video marketing is not the only thing you use to promote your business, but it should be included as part of an overall digital marketing strategy. It’s also essential that you don’t just post videos willy-nilly without any kind of sound or cohesive message; this can worsen how people perceive your brand! Like other mediums (like writing blog posts!), there are best practices and strategies to use video content successfully. With some effort put into it upfront, though, you can find yourself with a much more effective way of attracting new customers than what was previously available before the internet age!
2. Creating a successful video marketing campaign
There are many ways to make videos; this is one of the biggest reasons it’s easy to get overwhelmed when starting. If done right, though, this kind of content could prove invaluable down the road and help with everything from increasing brand recognition/awareness to boosting sales figures or even building authority in a given industry. With just some initial planning upfront, you’ll be able to start seeing positive results almost immediately! It does not have to be a mind-boggling process if you take things step by step over time –
When thinking about what kinds of videos would appeal most directly towards your ideal customer base, keep in mind that it’s not just about what YOU would like to do with them. If you’re trying so hard and coming off as insincere or overly pushy, then your efforts will likely not pay off; people can tell when someone is making an effort to sell themselves without really caring whether the message gets through! To avoid this outcome, try looking for examples of other successful videos online (as well as those which aren’t so great) and emulate some of their content-related features such as length/format style, etc.
3. Shooting professional-looking videos with your phone
One of the popular ways to create video content nowadays is using a smartphone. If you’re on a tight budget but still want something that will look at least somewhat professional overall, this can be an excellent way to get started! The best part about it, too, is how easy they are to use; pretty much anyone with any level of experience with technology should already know how to operate one (especially if they own a smartphone!)
The biggest challenge you’ll likely face here is dealing with the quality of your camera.
The video content that comes from smartphones isn’t always perfect, but it’s not impossible to use them for professional purposes. With some effort spent on making sure that you’re following best practices when it comes to your equipment and other factors involved with the shoot, you’ll be able to get something that’s more than acceptable for a lot of different situations!
5. Editing software for beginners
There are many editing apps available online, but most of them require you to have prior experience. There are lots of video editing tools that you can use online which are easy to use even if you don’t know anything about video editing! What you need to do is to just upload your existing images or videos.
The best way to learn is by starting with some basic tutorials on YouTube. There are plenty of different video editing software available, but you can just as easily get started without even spending money at all if that’s more appealing for whatever reason. You’ll be able to see what kind of results different editing styles get. You can always upgrade to higher-end software later on if/when your abilities improve or you feel like it would be necessary for a specific project.
6. Add captions, special effects, and music to make your videos even better!
Once you have a basic knowledge of the editing software, it’s time to start adding some bells and whistles!
Another quick tip to help make your videos look more professional include using a white background, adding subtitles/closed captions (especially if English is not the first language), and animating any graphics that appear on the screen. These are just some basic tricks of the trade which will greatly improve anyone’s video quality.
The last step is to add some background music! This can be done by uploading your track, buying royalty-free tracks online, or even using YouTube’s library of free audio files. Music should match your video’s overall mood/theme (i.e., upbeat for a funny clip, etc.) and help keep viewers engaged throughout.
Short, sweet, and to the point! The shorter a video is in length, the easier it will be for viewers to consume all of your information quickly without having to sit through lengthy introductions or advertisements that might lose their attention span before you even get started. In this article, I’ve broken down some basic tips which should help any beginner take their very first steps into video marketing.
7. Publishing your videos
Once you’ve created your video, it’s time to publish them so search engines and users alike can find it.
• YouTube
upload videos straight to youtube via the website or their app! The only drawback is that there are many different versions of YouTube out there now, so make sure you’re targeting the right one!
• Vimeo
upload videos directly to your account with this paid-for service similar in look and feel to YouTube. It’s good if you want more control over who can see your video etc.
• Wistia
upload videos and then beautifully display them with this paid-for service. It’s great if you like to show off your work!
• Brightcove
similar to Wistia but allows for more advanced features such as live streaming etc. There’s also an app available for mobile phone users!
The best video content isn’t just about the production value; it’s also about how you make your audience feel. We all know that there are a lot of options out there, and it can be hard to figure out where to start.
