- Vibrant RGBW lighting system takes the iconic tower to new heights
- Unveiling to coincide with Eid Al Etihad celebrations
Emaar Properties has completed a landmark lighting upgrade for the Burj Khalifa, the tallest structure in the world. The advanced RGBW lighting system, designed to harmonise innovation and aesthetics, will be revealed during the UAE’s Eid Al Etihad celebrations on 1 December 2024, ahead of the 15th anniversary of the tower on 4 January 2025.
This dramatic upgrade transforms the façade into a mesmerising spectacle of vibrant colours and intricate effects, enhancing its appeal to visitors and reinforcing Dubai’s standing as a global leader in innovation and design.
To achieve this, six months of meticulous testing ensured seamless integration of the system. The RGBW technology replaces traditional static lights with addressable fixtures capable of generating complex patterns and themes for everyday lighting as well as grand festive displays. This enhancement works alongside the tower’s media façade, preserving its iconic aesthetic.
Mr Ahmad Al Matrooshi, Executive Director of Emaar Properties, said: “Burj Khalifa has always stood as a beacon of what is possible when vision meets innovation. This lighting overhaul is a testament to our continuous pursuit of excellence and a tribute to the UAE’s spirit of progress. As we unveil this stunning upgrade during Eid Al Etihad celebrations and approach the tower’s 15th anniversary, this transformation marks a new chapter in its legacy, reaffirming Dubai as a city of boundless ambition.”
By setting a new standard in architectural lighting, this project blends art and technology to inspire future innovations worldwide.
